Austin Certified Mechanics
Christian Brothers employs mechanics certified by ASE at our Austin shop. What does ASE stand for? Why should you care about this certification? In today’s blog, we will answer these questions and others.
What is ASE?
ASE stands for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. They are a nonprofit organization that tests and certifies technicians in the automotive industry.
How do mechanics obtain ASE certification?
ASE offers over 40 certification tests that touch on everything from exhaust systems and damage analysis to hybrid cars. Mechanics must pass at least one of these tests and finish two years of relevant work experience to gain ASE certification. Those who complete more than one test can receive Master status. ASE also requires that everyone retakes their tests every five years.
What are the tests like?
The test are written by a panel of educators, technicians, executives, and manufacturers in the automotive industry. They consist of multiple choice questions and can usually be completed in one to two hours. Two-thirds of the people who take ASE certifications will pass on the first try.
Why should you care about ASE certification?
By selecting mechanics who are ASE-Certified, you’ll have the privilege of working with professionals who are knowledgeable and experienced. It’s something that you can always watch for when you have your car maintained.
