There is truly nothing like taking a road trip as a family! Not only do you get to see the sights along the way and enjoy your destination, but all that time spent in the car is fantastic for family bonding time. A road trip is a great time to catch up as a family, talk about a variety of topics and (our favorite) play the classic road games everyone loves.

Our Favorite Road Trip Games to Play as a Family

Create a mobile scavenger hunt. Scavenger hunts normally involve scouring an area for items, but you can also do a scavenger hunt right from the car! Give your kids a list of things to find, such as a billboard with a red pole or a license plate that has the number seven in it and see how long it takes them to discover it.

Break out 20 questions. A classic game for road trips, 20 questions requires no equipment and no special signage or scenery to play. By asking 20 yes or no questions, your kids can guess whatever person, place or thing you can think up!

Sing along to name that tune. If you have older kids, name that tune is a great way to get them engaged! A person has a phone hooked up to a streaming service and plays five seconds of a song, and whoever is the first in the car to guess the tune wins.

Go through the alphabet game. The alphabet game is good for drives that are especially long, as it requires all sorts of signage to complete. Find words that start with each letter of the alphabet on signs, other cars or anything else you come across on your drive, and the first person to make it through all the letters wins! To make things easier, you may want to eliminate Q, X and Z!
