Christian Brothers Automotive Certified Mechanics
What is ASE?
ASE is an acronym for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. For over 40 years, this organization has been certifying automotive technicians.
How do technicians receive ASE certification?
From working on hybrid cars to auto parts, there are over 40 distinct tests that ASE offers. The qualifications for becoming certified are getting a passing grade on at least one test and completing two years of related on-the-job experience. Those who complete more than one test can receive Master status. ASE also requires that all certified technicians retake their tests every five years to stay current with industry trends.
What are the tests like?
To ensure accuracy and quality, ASE employs a panel of technicians, executives, manufacturers, and educators in the automotive industry to create the exams. The tests can usually be finished in one to two hours. Two-thirds of the people who take one of these tests will pass on the first try.
Why should you care about ASE certification?
By choosing automotive technicians who are ASE-Certified, your car will be in the hands of professionals who are experienced and knowledgeable. ASE certification is something that you can always watch for when you have your car repaired.
