If you're concerned about the tread on your tires, we recommend the “penny test” to check your tread depth. Simply insert a penny into your tire's tread groove with Lincoln's head upside down and facing you. If you can see all of Lincoln's head, your tread depth is less than 2/32 inch and it's time to replace your tires.
Car Alignment Maintenance Benefits
Proper alignment is crucial for your vehicle's longevity and performance. Regular wheel alignment maintenance ensures your car's suspension and steering systems are at the correct angles. This helps prevent uneven tire wear, improves fuel efficiency, and provides a smoother driving experience. By keeping up with alignment maintenance, you're safeguarding your investment and contributing to a safer driving environment for everyone on the road.
Signs You Need a Wheel Alignment Check
Knowing the proper car alignment indicators can help you determine when to visit us for a check-up.
Common signs that your vehicle may need an alignment service:
- Vehicle Pulls to One Side While Driving: Misalignment can cause uneven tire angles, resulting in the car pulling to one side due to unequal tire forces.
- Uneven or Rapid Tire Wear: Misalignment can lead to an uneven weight distribution on the tires, causing them to wear irregularly and more quickly.
- Off-Center Steering Wheel When Driving Straight: Misalignment can disrupt the steering system's synchronization, causing the steering wheel to be off-center while the vehicle moves in a straight line.
- Steering Wheel Vibration: Misalignment can cause uneven tire wear, leading to vibrations felt through the steering wheel as the tires make uneven contact with the road.
- Noisy Steering: Misalignment can cause the tires to scrub against the road at incorrect angles, resulting in noise during steering.
If you notice any of these symptoms, don't hesitate to bring your vehicle to Christian Brothers Automotive Hill Country Village for a comprehensive car alignment check.
