How an ASE-Certified Auto Repair Technician Can Bring You Peace of Mind
WHAT IS ASE?
ASE stands for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. Right now, over 300,000 automotive technicians hold certifications from ASE.
About our ASE-certified technicians
ASE works to protect you, the automotive service customer. By increasing the standards in automotive excellence, ASE is ensuring only qualified experts handle your vehicle.
According to the ASE website:
“We test and certify automotive professionals so that shop owners and service customers can better gauge a technicians level of expertise before contracting the technician’s services. We certify the automotive technician professional so they can offer tangible proof of their technical knowledge. ASE Certification testing means peace of mind.”
After two years of on-the-job training, auto mechanics are eligible to take the rigorous examination, which must be taken again every 5 years.
Master-level ASE certification
In addition to becoming ASE-certified, mechanics have the option of continuing through the testing process to achieve a “master-level” ASE certification. Much like a standard certification, a master-level certification ensures that as the customer, you know your auto technician’s exact level of skill and expertise.
The examinations are broken up into series by type, including “automobile”, “collision repair” and “truck equipment.” To acquire a master-level ASE certification, an individual mechanic must pass a specified number of tests within a certain series. Just like the standard ASE certification, a master-level certification expires after 5 years.
At Christian Brothers Automotive, every corporate and franchise location employs ASE-certified and master-level ASE-certified technicians.
