Managers & Technicians Convene for 2019’s Mastering the Difference Conference

Managers & Technicians Convene for 2019’s Mastering the Difference Conference
| By: Christian Brothers Automotive

Each year, Christian Brothers Automotive brings together service technicians and managers from all around the country for training, education, and ongoing improvement at our “Mastering the Difference” convention. This workshop provides not only valuable instruction and training in modern tools and repair techniques, but a thorough grounding in company culture and what it means to be a part of the family here at Christian Brothers Automotive.

This year’s event brought hundreds of technicians to the gulf coast of Texas for a four-day event packed with valuable training, outstanding guest lectures, and festivities that featured $45,000 in giveaways. The keynote speaker of this year’s conference, Stephen MR Covey, discussed “The Speed of Trust,” which delved into his work on the value of trust as a leadership tool.

The event also featured three days of various workshops, where technicians and service managers could gain new skills and learn new techniques in a hands-on environment. This included training in some of Christian Brothers Automotive’s newest and most innovative developments that will be rolling out soon. One of the highlighted training sessions was on Tekmetric, a new point-of-sale software that will be rolled out at all Christian Brothers Automotive locations before the end of 2019.

Brad Fink, VP of Leadership and Franchise Development for Christian Brothers Automotive, stated: “Our goal at this event is to have all of our technicians leave inspired, by bringing in the top minds and trainers in mechanical repair to train our team members. This conference shows our technicians and service managers that Christian Brothers is an organization that truly cares about all of our team members. From our corporate team to our individual franchise owners, we make it a priority to invest in the personal development of team members at all levels.”

The conference is by far the largest single training and education event the brand holds every year, serving as the flagship for their industry-leading approach to technician training. The interactive setting allows technicians to learn faster, which in turn enables technicians and service managers to grow and advance in their professional development.

Concluding the four-day event is an annual award ceremony that honors team members in a variety of areas. Managers and technicians are recognized for their commitment to brand values, customer service, and customer service in addition to their exceptional technical knowledge. The award ceremony also includes awarding the Lighthouse Award, an annual recognition for the service manager or technician who serves as a light in their community and best exemplifies the spirit of Christian Brothers Automotive. This year’s award was given to a service manager from Atlanta for his role in helping fellow veterans get things they needed, including helping one purchase a house and another obtain a service dog.

“Every year, I’m blown away by the commitment to excellence I see from our technicians and service members to learn new skills, techniques and master cutting-edge technology,” said Christian Brothers Automotive president Donnie Carr. “It’s an experience unlike any other, for our managers and technicians but also for our entire franchise team to see how our training sets Christian Brothers apart in the industry. I saw in every attendee a desire to bring everything they learned this week back home and to deliver on that commitment to excellence for their customers and their community.”
