Hey Dallas – Three Things to Check on Your Car Today
If you're like most people out there, you probably don't have the time or knowledge to handle maintenance and repairs on your car. Luckily, that is why Christian Brothers Midway is here. We offer several different automotive services for our customers in Dallas, including tune-ups, emission inspections, brake repairs, and alignments.
But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be mindful of some ways to keep your vehicle in working condition. The three items below should be checked regularly to maintain your car's performance.
1. Windshield Wipers
Worn windshield wipers can turn a drive in a rainstorm from an aggravating experience into something that is extremely dangerous. As a car owner, you should probably replace your wipers every six to twelve months, depending on how much you drive and where you live. If you're looking for an indication if your wipers need to be replaced, listen for squeaking, skipping, or streaking sounds. You can also look at them closely for corrosion, damage, or signs of wear and tear. If it's time for a new set, you should be able to replace them in a matter of minutes.
2. Tire Pressure
The DMV recommends that you should check your tire pressure on a weekly or biweekly basis. (The perfect time to do this would be when you make a stop at the gas station.) To find out what pressure your tires should be, look in your owner's manual or the sticker on your driver's side door. If more air is needed, you should be able to find an air compressor at a local gas station that just costs a few cents to use.
3. Lights
Because we're always inside our cars, a burnt-out light bulb can often go unnoticed for quite some time. Take a few minutes and check your brake lights, turn signals, and headlights with the help of a friend or family member. If you notice one isn't working, you can find a suitable replacement at a local auto parts store and make the change in under 15 minutes. Or you can drop by Christian Brothers in Dallas and have us handle the replacement for you.
