Houston Certified Mechanics
What is ASE?
ASE is an acronym for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. They are an organization that has been certifying technicians in the automotive industry for over 40 years.
How do mechanics become certified by ASE?
ASE offers over 40 unique certification tests that cover everything from collision repair to understanding auto parts. In order to receive certification, applicants must get a passing score on one of these tests and complete two years of relevant on-the-job experience. Those who complete more than one test will be given Master status. To ensure that certified technicians stay current with new trends, ASE requires them to retake their tests every five years or their status will be lost.
What are the tests like?
The certification tests are written by a staff of educators, technicians, executives, and manufacturers in the automotive industry. Most technicians take one to two hours to complete an exam. Two-thirds of the people who take ASE certifications will pass on their first attempt.
What does ASE certification mean to you?
By choosing ASE-Certified mechanics, you’ll have the privilege of working with professionals who are both experienced and knowledgeable. Rather than just trusting any repair shop for your car’s repairs and maintenance, you can count on someone you know can handle the work correctly.
