Lakeside Living Back To School: 2020 Edition
During Covid-19 and beyond: We take pride in taking care of our guests. We comply with CDC and state guidelines for our mutual protection. We wipe down all interior contact surfaces of your car before and after we perform service. Our personnel wear appropriate personal protection gear, and we exercise social distancing in our customer lounge, while monitoring the number of guests in our waiting area. We regularly clean and disinfect our lounge area and restroom. We have a barrier at the front counter, separating our service advisors from our guests across the counter. We encourage our guests to wear masks and to use our hand sanitizer in our waiting area.
We offer no-touch vehicle drop-offs using envelopes for your keys that can be placed in the key-drop in the front door. We will come to your home or place of work to pick up your vehicle and drop it back off to you when we’ve completed the service. We’re blessed to have earned your trust and your business.

Hello Lakeside friends! This certainly has been a different kind of summer for all of us as we continue to navigate COVID-19. As of this writing, many of the states have relaxed stay-at-home orders, and we’ve begun journeying out once again. I trust we are all doing our part to safeguard our families and each other to help keep the virus from rearing its ugly head again. As we head into “back-to-school” time, we may be uncertain as to what new or ongoing challenges are ahead of us. If schools open in a “normal” fashion, we may expect families resuming carpooling and students heading off to college.
Part of the back-to-school journey (or anytime) is preparing your vehicle for safe and reliable transportation. Regardless of how much traveling you’ve done in your vehicle this summer, proper and timely maintenance is always a best practice. I’m aware that I repeat this message often, but I believe it’s worth repeating often. We see hundreds of vehicles come through our shop doors every month. Each vehicle is unique as to its service and repair needs. It’s always a difficult conversation to have with a client whose vehicle is in need of extensive repairs as a result of overlooked, delayed, or ignored preventative maintenance recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. While following the manufacturer’s recommendations helps safeguard against expensive repairs, and even if you’ve done everything correctly, things still wear out, parts still break, systems still fail, and the unexpected may still occur.
At Christian Brothers Automotive Mooresville, we are proud to offer service and repairs that are usually associated with dealerships. We have the same diagnostic tools, computers, and technician training that equips us to handle even the most complex repairs. We are an authorized third-party warranty service provider, including the CarMax MaxCare extended warranty and service plans. Plus our guests are covered by our own 3-year, 36,000-mile Nice Difference Warranty that expires at whichever limit occurs last. During your car’s visit to our shop, we take the time to carefully inspect your vehicle to detect those things that need attention before they become a problem. Call us today at 704.448.0770 to schedule your car for our exclusive courtesy inspection.
In the meantime, here’s a short list of maintenance items to check. If you’re in doubt about any of these, please drop by and we’ll check them for you.
Fluids and fluid health. It’s not always enough to simply check the level of critical fluids including engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid and coolant. It’s equally important to know the condition of these fluids. Fluids can and do wear out, losing their properties over time or mileage that compromise their function or protection qualities. Fluids are the lifeblood of your vehicle. Fluid maintenance is identified in the manufacturer’s service schedule. Note that the schedule is general, meaning the time and mileage intervals are based on “typical” driving conditions. Those recommendations change when the vehicle is driven in stop-and-go city driving, prolonged periods of idling, pulling a trailer, off-road use, hilly or mountain driving, aggressive acceleration and braking, extreme hot or cold temperatures, and on any road surface that is irregular or bumpy.
Warning lights in the instrument cluster can be a scary thing to suddenly come on while driving and need to be acted upon promptly. The lights will come on because your car is telling you something is wrong, even though you may not feel anything wrong. Each system has its own warning light. Your vehicle owner’s manual has a section that describes the light, its function, the system it represents and the action you should take depending on how the light appears on the dash. Again, if in doubt, stop in and we can help determine what’s going on.
Your vehicle is not maintenance free! The service list is comprehensive and includes other items such as spark plugs, fuel system services, brake service, filters, tires, tire balance, alignments, steering and suspension, emission controls, cooling system, heating and air conditioning, lights, wipers, and so on. We can help you keep track of these and other items to give you peace of mind and keep you on the road. We’re always here to help you with any service or repair your vehicle requires.
Please call 704-816-7777 to get more information, schedule service, or learn more about our complimentary courtesy inspection. We’re now offering vehicle pick-up and drop-off so you can get your car serviced without leaving your home. Contact us for more information.
Stay healthy and be blessed!
