Signs It's Time to Service Your Vehicle's Brakes
Protect yourself and your passengers by maintaining your vehicle’s brakes. A reliable, effective set of brakes is critical for smooth control on the roads. From making a quick stop at traffic lights to navigating around curves with ease, trusty brakes are essential for keeping you safe.
Don’t put yourself in harm's way – invest time into regularly monitoring and maintaining your vehicle's brake performance so that any potential issues can be promptly addressed by a professional. Some of the most common warning signs of brake issues include:
- Squealing or Grinding Noises: One of the most common warning signs of brake problems is squealing or grinding noises when the brakes are applied. These noises can be caused by a variety of issues, such as worn brake pads or rotors that are not smooth. If you hear these noises, it is important to have your brakes checked as soon as possible.
- Vibrations When Braking: Another warning sign of brake problems is vibrations when braking. These vibrations can be caused by warped rotors or other issues with the brake system. If you feel vibrations when braking, it is important to have your brakes checked by a professional.
- Pulling to One Side When Braking: If your vehicle pulls to one side when you apply the brakes, this could be a sign that there is an issue with the brake calipers or pads. This problem should be addressed as soon as possible, as it could lead to more serious issues if left unchecked.
- Brake Pedal Feels Spongy: If the brake pedal feels spongy when you press it, this could be a sign of air in the brake lines. This problem should be fixed as soon as possible, as it could lead to longer stopping distances and decreased braking power.
- Brake Warning Light is On: If your vehicle’s brake warning light is on, this means that there is an issue with the brake system. You should take your vehicle to a mechanic to have the problem diagnosed and repaired as soon as possible.
- Decreased Braking Power: If you notice that your vehicle’s braking power has decreased, this could be a sign of worn brake pads or other issues with the brake system. You should have your brakes checked by a professional if you notice this problem.
