Wichita Certified Mechanics
You may have seen on our site that we have mechanics certified by ASE at our Wichita shop. But what is ASE, anyway? What does this mean for you? We will expound on this subject in today’s post.
What is ASE?
ASE is an acronym for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. Since 1972, this organization has been testing and certifying automotive technicians.
How do mechanics become certified by ASE?
There are over 40 ASE certification tests, spanning from collision repair to auto parts. Mechanics must pass at least one of these tests and complete two years of relevant work experience to be certified by the ASE. In order to stay up to date with any changes in the industry, certified mechanics must retake their tests every five years or their status will be lost.
What are the tests like?
The test are written by a staff of technicians, executives, manufacturers, and educators in the automotive industry. Most technicians take one to two hours to finish an exam. Two-thirds of the people who take ASE certifications will pass on the first attempt.
Why should you care about ASE certification?
Certification from ASE allows mechanics to provide a higher standard of service to their customers. It’s something that you can always watch for when it is time to have your car serviced or repaired.
